01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A signature dish at Urokoya is the sweet tilefish grilled uroko-yaki style: the scales are coaxed upright and crisped over heat while the flesh stays tender and moist. Available as a whole fish or a half portion, it showcases precise temperature control. Situated on basement level 1 of Lirio Building 2, right outside the south exit of Kameari Station, this Japanese izakaya caters to seafood fans with careful craft.

Sashimi arrives generously sliced, and the broader izakaya repertoire holds up just as well, including dashimaki tamago rolled with daily house bonito stock and slow-braised kakuni pork. Guests pairing these dishes with drinks can choose from the master's recommended sake, seasonal fruit sours, or wine. To finish, consider donabe-steamed rice flavored with sea bream or sweetfish (ayu), or round off the meal with vanilla ice cream drizzled with black honey and kinako.

Midday dining brings substantial set meals such as tempura paired with fresh sashimi, or simmered fish, accompanied by steamed rice and sea-lettuce miso soup. With counter seats for solo dining as well as private rooms and tables, the setting accommodates different gatherings with understated care.
